SpLD Module

Hello I am, Pauline - I am working with Ruth on the SpLD Pathway of the MA Inclusive Education.  A little about my background – I work at Middlesex University where I help to co-ordinate and provide support for our students with SpLDs including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, AD(H)D, Dyscalculia and Asperger’s Syndrome. 

I also support students from other universities and colleges. A lot of my work is involved in conducting initial SpLD screenings and early next year I will be qualified to carry out full diagnostic assessments.   I also work as a tutor on the PGC Distance Learning Course  - ‘Supporting the Adult Dyslexic Learner’, where the students are training to be dyslexia support tutors in FE/HE.

My interest in dyslexia has developed since it was suggested that my son Stuart (at the age of four) was dyslexic 20+ years ago.  I have closely supported Stuart throughout his education and I have been involved in advising and supporting other dyslexic children and their families.   

I have seen from your introductions on the discussion board that you all come from very interesting and diverse backgrounds from around the world and I am really looking forward to working with you and getting to know you all a lot better.
